YOGA CLASSES New Beginner Series is a short weekly series designed to introduce total beginners to the Anusara® Universal Principles of Alignment™, basic yoga poses, breathing and relaxation techniques at a safe and steady pace. Prepares students for any Beginner (Basics) or Gentle level classes.
Gentle Yoga combines warm-ups, gentle yoga postures and yogic breathing to improve flexibility, reduce stress and boost stamina. For students who prefer a slower, gentler pace, or for maturing students, expectant mothers, those recovering from illness, injury or who have minor limitations or chronic pain. Appropriate for beginners.
Beginner (Basics) class provides a safe and instructive space for new and continuing students to learn and refine the yoga basics, primary poses, Anusara principles of alignment and breath-work. Classes are moderately paced.
Beg/Int is for continuing students who have completed Beginner (Basics). Emphasis on refining alignment principles, building endurance and introducing intermediate level standing poses. Suitable for students who have studied other yoga styles, but not suitable for those new to yoga.
Intermediate classes are for students ready for a more vigorous class. The class pace is quicker, poses are held longer and more challenging variations of yoga poses are taught. Students are introduced to strength preparations for inversions and arm balances, and revolved poses. Yoga experience is required.
Int/Adv is for intermediate students who would like deeper instruction and practice in revolved standing poses, backbends and inversions. This class builds heat and stamina with challenging and creative sequencing on poses. A solid understanding of Anusara principles of alignment is essential.
Advanced/Eye of the Tiger is for students who have completed Int/Adv, or have the permission of the instructor. Emphasis on inversions and variations, sequencing of poses, backbends, arm balances and revolved poses. Experience required. Must have a solid understanding and embodiment of the principles of alignment. Must be able to kick-up to handstand at the wall, and do full wheel without assistance.
PILATES CLASSES Mat Pilates (Basics) classes emphasize exercises that build core strength, stabilize the torso and pelvis, align the spine, tone abdominals and core muscles. Moderate pace.
Mat Pilates (Intermediate) are intermediate level classes that focus on deeper conditioning and toning of the abdominals and gluteals.
