The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training in India will run from Sunday the 19th January till Sunday 16th February 2025, 4 weeks. It will be held at Quiet, Auroville’s yoga, wellness and Ayurvedic treatment center overlooking the impressive beauty of the Indian Ocean. A place to relax, recharge and rejuvenate. Lara Baumann, founder of Quantum Yoga, will be running the course. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialised subjects from Samkya philosophy and sadhu culture to Tantra and basic Sanskrit. This marks the 20th Quantum Yoga Teacher Training and the first time since 2012 that Lara will teach the entire course, enabling you to benefit from her many years of experience.

The course will be held in English, but Lara also speaks fluent German, French and Spanish, so if you are not a native English-speaker, translation can be offered where questions arise.

Suitability for the teacher training:

The Teacher Training is suitable for those who want to embark on a career as a yoga teacher, teachers who would like to improve their current skills, as well as yogis who simply would like to deepen their understanding and improve their practice. Trainees often start as students and then decide to dedicate themselves more seriously to the study, investigation and propagation of yoga. Some have had experience elsewhere and have reached a level where they feel ready to consider teaching. Others may have no intention of leaving their current work, but simply want to develop the knowledge and ability to confidently guide others in this rewarding practice.

Course Content & Accreditation:

The Intensive Teacher Training is 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited (see www.yogaalliance.org for more information). It will cover all aspects of yoga along with detailed instruction in the Quantum Method and how to teach it. Study of Ayurveda, the Science of Life, will result in an understanding of how this informs not only the emphasis in one’s yoga practice, but also the effects of such life-style choices as food, recreational activities, creams and massage oils, etc. We will explore the roots of the yoga tradition, learning about its history within the socio-cultural context of India from ancient times to the present day, as well as its links to other mystical traditions and its role internationally today. Students will learn about a variety of systems and styles. Using the Quantum Method of Yoga, apprentices will eventually gain the ability to assess what practice is appropriate for themselves and their prospective students and learn how to creatively construct balanced flowing vinyasa yoga sequences. As Quantum advocates vinyasa (breath-synchronised movement) as a primary mode of practice, most asana classes will be of a dynamic nature. Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation practice will also form part of our daily routine.

There will be a variety of modules covering such themes as Anatomy and Physiology, Adjustments, Therapeutic Yoga, Post and Pre-Natal Yoga, Yoga for Children, Asana names, groupings and sequencing techniques, ancient scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanishads, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Buddhism, Tantra etc. Where applicable out-of-house specialists will run the modules.

Teaching will be both practical and theoretical on a group and individual basis, and there is a requirement for you to spend your own time reading and keeping a yoga diary. We will work to a full and exciting schedule, culmination in the assessment classes and re-takes, until everyone is confident to share the precious gift of yoga safely and intelligently.

The course will take place at Quiet near Auroville, see www.quiethealingcenter.info. At her last visit, Lara was particularly impressed by the variety and quality of treatments available at Quiet. Naturally, it is very useful to be able to compliment the training by treating yourself to quality massage, watsu and healing treatments.

The yummy and wholesome food on the course will be largely vegetarian, while individual dietary requirements will be taken into account. The kitchen at Quiet offers an Indian, as well as a Western option at every meal.

Although not in Auroville, Quiet is associated with Auroville, which means that we can have access to the breathtakingly amazing Matrimandir, as well as the many interesting and fun events and activities in Auroville.
