Yoga Alliance Certified
Quantum Yoga Teacher Training
25th March – 22nd April 2023
The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training on Ibiza will run from Saturday the 25th March till Saturday 22nd April 2023, 4 weeks. It will be held at Can Quàntic, a charming traditional converted finca in the lush countryside near Santa Gertrudis, right in the centre of the island. Lara Baumann, founder of Quantum Yoga, will be running the course, co-taught by Nadine Bader, and assisted by Maurizio Marmorato, both experienced 500-hr Quantum Yoga teachers. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialized subjects from Samkya philosophy and sadhu culture to Tantra and basic Sanskrit. This marks the 19th Quantum Yoga Teacher Training, and this particular team has worked together successfully on many occasions, so you will be in very safe, competent and loving hands!
The course will be held in English, but Nadine and Lara speak fluent German, Lara also has very good French and Spanish skills, Tamara speaks Spanish and Arabic, so if you are not a native English-speaker, translation can be offered where questions arise.
Suitability for the teacher training:
The Teacher Training is suitable for those who want to embark on a career as a yoga teacher, teachers who would like to improve their current skills, as well as yogis who simply would like to deepen their understanding and improve their practice. Trainees often start as students and then decide to dedicate themselves more seriously to the study, investigation and propagation of yoga. Some have had experience elsewhere and have reached a level where they feel ready to consider teaching. Others may have no intention of leaving their current work, but simply want to develop the knowledge and ability to confidently guide others in this rewarding practice.
Course Content & Accreditation:
The Intensive Teacher Training is 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited (see www.yogaalliance.org for more information). It will cover all aspects of yoga along with detailed instruction in the Quantum Method and how to teach it. Study of Ayurveda, the Science of Life, will result in an understanding of how this informs not only the emphasis in one’s yoga practice, but also the effects of such life-style choices as food, recreational activities, creams and massage oils, etc. We will explore the roots of the yoga tradition, learning about its history within the socio-cultural context of India from ancient times to the present day, as well as its links to other mystical traditions and its role internationally today. Students will learn about a variety of systems and styles. Using the Quantum Method of Yoga, apprentices will eventually gain the ability to assess what practice is appropriate for themselves and their prospective students and learn how to creatively construct balanced flowing vinyasa yoga sequences. As Quantum advocates vinyasa (breath-synchronised movement) as a primary mode of practice, most asana classes will be of a dynamic nature. Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation practice will also form part of our daily routine.
There will be a variety of modules covering such themes as Anatomy and Physiology, Adjustments, Therapeutic Yoga, Post and Pre-Natal Yoga, Yoga for Children, Asana names, groupings and sequencing techniques, ancient scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanishads, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Buddhism, Tantra etc. Where applicable out-of-house specialists will run the modules.
Teaching will be both practical and theoretical on a group and individual basis, and there is a requirement for you to spend your own time reading and keeping a yoga diary. We will work to a full and exciting schedule, culmination in the assessment classes and re-takes, until everyone is confident to share the precious gift of yoga safely and intelligently.
The course will take place at Can Quàntic. The Villa and its amenities include indoor and outdoor covered meditation and yoga spaces, a large swimming pool, several cozy chill-out areas, various gardens with a wide array of Mediterranean fruit trees, flowers and other gorgeous plants. We are passionate about nutrition, so the food will be healthy, delicious, where possible organic and locally sourced, as well as copious. Lara lives on Ibiza and has been coming since 2001, so she knows the best massage therapists, healers and other specialists, and can easily arrange villa visits.
The yummy and wholesome food on the course will be largely, although not exclusively, vegetarian, while individual dietary requirements will be taken into account. Our talented chef Abel grows and sells his own vegetables, so he will be using a lot of produce straight from his land, often harvested the same day you will eat it! Without exception, past trainees absolutely loved his cooking and his kind, relaxed and unimposing presence. Catering for groups involved in spiritual practice, Abel ensures that meals compliment and enhance the yoga experience, whilst leaving the group delighted and fully sated.
