500 hour
Yoga Alliance Accredited
Quantum Yoga Teacher Training

South Goa, India
15 February – 14 March 2020

The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training in India will run from Saturday 15th February to Saturday 14th March 2020.  It will be held at Bhakti Kutir, a beautiful retreat centre located between two of south Goa’s most spectacular beaches, Palolem and Patnem, and yet tucked away in a quiet enclave of tropical gardens. This will be the 14th year that Lara teaches at this wonderful eco-resort which is true to its name meaning “abode for meditation” and is therefore the ideal place to hold such an intense yoga immersion program.

Lara Baumann (MA, E-RYT 500), who founded Quantum Yoga, and experienced 500-hr Quantum Yoga teacher Sally-Anne Sweeney (E-RYT 500) will be running the course. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialised subjects such as Samkhya philosophy, sadhu culture, Tantra and basic Sanskrit. 500-hr Quantum Yoga teacher Nadine Bader will teach a thorough and fun Anatomy & Physiology program, as well as offering general assistance at the training.

Suitability for the teacher training:

The Teacher Training is suitable for those who have completed a 200-hour training and would now like to develop their teaching skills further, deepen and intensify their understanding of the knowledge gained previously, and gain additional insight into the spiritual science of yoga.

The 500-hour program will run alongside the 200-hour Intensive Teacher Training, and as such you will act in the role of mature student, able to support and advise the less experienced trainees. You will therefore be working very closely with Lara, Sally-Anne and Nadine, thus acquiring the practical, pedagogic and psychological skills to guide students through stressful and pressurized situations.

Course Content & Accreditation:

The Intensive Teacher Training is 500-hour Yoga Alliance accredited (see www.yogaalliance.org for more information).

The content of the course will be a further development and deepening of your understanding of the history, philosophy and application of yoga.

In order to substantiate your knowledge of Quantum Yoga, you will be expected to further explore the teachings of Ayurveda and the significance of Quantum Physics in the framework of asana-vinyasa, pranayama and meditation practice.

There will be a chance to recap the subjects covered in the previous courses (see 200-hour TT content), and thus expand your knowledge on these from a solid foundation. You will be expected to develop from simply taking in information to now displaying the skill of clearly and succinctly imparting it to others, as well as relating it back to and integrating it into the realm of asana teaching. Thus, part of the 500-hour course work will include a lecture prepared by you on a chosen subject. This may then also form your subject for a written thesis of 5000 words. You will be expected to have prepared an outline proposal for your final paper, which will be written after completion of the course (final submission date is 14th April 2020).

The assessment on the 500-hour course will consist of a written preparatory outline with handouts, to be approved by Lara, followed by the actual teaching of the class. The structure will need to follow the Quantum Yoga Grouping and Sequencing laws. There will have to be an explanation of the Assessment methodology, as informed by Ayurvedic principles. The sequence will have to have a clear theme, a peak pose (if appropriate), as well as the application of linking mechanisms beyond half-vinyasas.

Over and above the 200-hour classes, all of which the 500-hour trainees will attend, there will be an additional Practicum session before the main morning asana-vinyasa class, as well as our own Q&A session before the lectures in the afternoon. There will be regular meetings with Lara and/or Sally-Anne to review the study, practice and events of the course, in order to clarify their relevance and significance, preparing the 500-hour students’ ability to construct and execute their own elaborate yoga programs in the future.

Your home for the teacher training:

Bhakti Kutir is a real home away from home, a haven of peace nestled within its own two-acre coconut grove. The friendly and helpful German owner, Indo-German and Argentinian management team and Indian staff at Bhakti Kutir all speak English, as well as other languages, and are accustomed to catering to the needs of foreign yogis.

You will be accommodated in one of their unique back-to-nature cabanas. All cabanas are individually decorated, and always comprise some form of charming study / chill-out option, such as a veranda with deck chairs, a balcony with planter chairs, hammocks etc. Fashioned from local materials like rice straw, and bamboo, the cabanas are built to include trees, leaves, and to let you see the moon and star-filled skies. The living areas combine a rural feel with a surprising degree of comfort. The majority of the cabanas have attached bathrooms. Those not having directly attached facilities have a reserved private bathroom a few paces away.

Bhakti Kutir comprises a fully dedicated Ayurvedic spa, naturopathic clinic and medical centre, where many Quantum Yoga students have been spoilt and healed. The centre aims to encourage mental and physical harmony to re-establish health, through time honoured Keralan Ayurvedic remedies tailored just for you. All treatments are conducted by experienced therapists.

Bhakti Kutir’s restaurant is set underneath swaying coconut trees and serves not only incredibly healthy food (much of which is sourced from local organic farms), but it is also irresistibly delicious, which has made many a sun salutation not quite as light and graceful as one would hope!

Fresh, local, seasonal food is always selected and the restaurant is primarily vegetarian, also offering a good range of vegan and gluten-free options.

The Bhakti Kutir juice bar offers the most extensive range of juices in the local area (organic wherever available).

Many lovely beach bars, restaurants and shops are in walking distance, so there will be absolutely no problem to fill your spare time.

In short, the Quantum Yoga Teacher Training will be warmly hosted by the dedicated BK team, ensuring that your every need is covered.
